Blonde Medicine is pleased to announce the September 3, 2021 release of One Night in Austin, the new comedy album from Tone Bell.
One Night in Austin is the sophomore full-length from Tone Bell, following up his debut Can’t Cancel This from 2019. One Night in Austin was recorded live at the Vulcan Gas Co. in Austin, TX., and in order to make it as authentic a snapshot of a live show as possible, the audience wasn’t told it was a taping. In fact this was Bell’s second attempt at capturing this material. An original attempt in Phoenix was ultimately scrapped because, according to Bell: “something wasn’t right. I was trying to make something be there that wasn’t there yet.” Upon second attempt the magic was captured, and one night in Austin became One Night in Austin!
Bell describes One Night in Austin as a sexy/savory trail mix of stories with something everyone can enjoy. Drawn from the best true stories that were part of his set just before the shutdown, as well as material stemming from life that happened during, Tone steers clear of pandemic material.
Tone Bell has been doing standup since January 2008, and acting professionally for a decade. But he has been “dabbling” since age 12 when he appeared on Atlanta public access show Kids Barn, and even before when Bell’s parents and their friends would request he perform impressions from the hot TV shows of the time: Martin, Fresh Prince, Cosby, and even Married with Children. At age 11 Bell’s mom (Val) asked what he wanted to do when he grew up. To Tone it was “...simple. I wanted to do what Will Smith does. I want be funny on TV.”
The motivation for releasing an album now grew out of a conversation Tone had with his good friend and fellow comedian Rojo Perez, while drinking after a show. Perez asked “How dope would it be if you did an album in the same year when you had these nominated movies drop.” Even drunk, Bell was sold, and One Night in Austin was born.

ABOUT TONE BELL:
Tone Bell is an actor, writer, and comedian known most recently for starring as John Levy alongside Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Andra Day in Lee Daniels' award-winning film The U.S. Vs. Billie Holiday.
Tone also starred as comedic legend Richard Pryor in BET’s American Soul and opposite Nina Dobrev in the CBS series Fam. He has also been seen co-starring with Kathy Bates in Netflix’s original comedy series Disjointed. Tone guest-starred on the current season of HBO Max’s A Black Lady Sketch Show, which has been nominated for 8 Emmys.
As an accomplished stand-up comic who tours nationwide, Tone filmed his first one-hour comedy special for Showtime, which began airing in February 2019. Tone Bell: Can’t Cancel This can currently be seen on Showtime, Showtime Demand, Showtime Anytime, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Tone’s forthcoming comedy album, One Night in Austin, will be released this fall
Tone also co-starred in the Emmy-nominated film Sylvie’s Love with Tessa Thompson and Eva Longoria, which premiered at Sundance in January 2020 and was distributed by Amazon. Tone's other films, Little, starring Issa Rae, Regina Hall and Marsai Martin and produced by Will Packer, as well as Dog Days starring Nina Dobrev, Vanessa Hudgens, Rob Corddry, and Adam Pally are available on Hulu, as well as DVD and Blu-ray. He can be seen in the independent film The Weekend, written and directed by Stella Meghie, with DeWanda Wise, Sasheer Zamata, Y’Lan Noel and Kym Whitley, available on Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.
Tone is originally from Atlanta and currently resides in Los Angeles.
