MORE ABOUT GRANT LYON

Grant Lyon is a comedian based in Los Angeles. Described by San Francisco Weekly as “a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers,” Lyon is known for his intellectual but silly brand of comedy. Over the last fifteen years, Lyon has fine-tuned his style of smart comedy by performing at the best comedy clubs and festivals across the country. Recorded at Laughing Skull Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, Scheduled Fun Time is full of thoughtful personal and social commentary on matters such as Lyon's family, his decision not to have his own children, what it means to be a man, and his addiction to fireworks.

Grant was once a collegiate soccer player at UC Santa Cruz. His first comedy performance was during a road trip using a tour bus microphone in front of his teammates. He told twenty-five minutes of memorized Mitch Hedberg jokes and first felt the rush of performing stand-up. From then on, his coach continually asked him when he was going to start writing his own material. Fortunately, he asked so many times that Lyon finally did, then performed those jokes for the very first time once again on a tour bus in front of his teammates later that season, and he decided to pursue a career on stage instead of on the field. That decision has been rewarded by being chosen as a New Face in comedy at the Just For Laughs Festival, winning the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, and being a finalist in the Big Sky Festival. He plays a fun role in the second season of The Comedy Central show “Corporate” and stars in the Amazon Prime feature film Killer Kate! As well as performing in a number of other prestigious comedy festivals including The Great American Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Grant’s performed on the TV show Comics Unleashed. He has appeared on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show, is heard regularly on Sirius/XM satellite radio, and has been a guest on numerous popular podcasts including Doug Loves Movies. As well as being a contributing writer for the Huffington Post, the film he wrote and starred in, Interview Date, was eligible for a short film Academy Award. Funny or Die, MSN, Huffington Post, and others are among the sites that have featured Grant’s sketch videos on their home pages. You might also recognize him from a number of national commercials including AT&T, Johnsonville Sausage, CiCi’s Pizza, and more.
