New Comedy Album from Shawn Carter- Boston to Bristol out December 15 on Blonde Medicine

Blonde Medicine is Proud To Announce The December 15, 2023 Album:
Shawn Carter
Many things changed during the pandemic and for Boston-native comedian Shawn Carter and his wife, that change involved taking on the RV life and accidentally moving to Bristol, Tennessee where Shawn opened the Blue Ridge Comedy Club. Says Shawn, “my wife and I had moved into an RV in February of 2020 and when the world shut down because of covid we ended up living in the town we only planned to visit.” This explains the title of Shawn Carter’s upcoming album Boston to Bristol, which represents his triumphant return with a killer set at Somerville’s The Rockwell.
On the album Shawn talks about the differences he’s noticed between Massachusetts and the South including unique car cultures and suspicious solicitations to go to church, and he shares stories of being an adoptive father and second husband. It’s about differences geographically, but according to Shawn, it’s also about “where I came from academically, financially, and religiously in my younger days and how in many cases that is at odds with where I am now.” He goes on:
“It’s strange to be a community college dropout that grew up with cars that wouldn’t start half the time and be seen as a coastal elite. My dad was a union guy and my mom worked full time as well. Meanwhile, my wife who is from the south, her dad is a neurologist and her mom a librarian.They are all wonderful but my wife and I came from very different backgrounds and I talk about that a bit.”
