Shark Party Media is on the lookout for an enthusiastic, quick-witted, journalistically-minded, accountable Public Relations Assistant with an interest in the industry side of Comedy, Podcasting, Journalism and all forms of Entertainment Media.

 

This is a remote, part time, hourly independent contractor position with great potential to grow into a larger presence at the company.

Shark Party Media values your creativity and is interested in understanding your personal style of communication. Using AI tools to write cover letters or other materials is a fairly easy tactic to spot and is frowned upon during the hiring process.

​

Tasks of the position:

• Calendar upkeep

• Inbox organization

• Report administration

• Scheduling meetings

• Proofreading copy

• Researching contacts in the media

• Formatting press documents

• Updating website with client assets

• Organizing schedules for client interviews

• Formatting and posting articles to company social media

• Contact database maintenance

• Tailoring onboarding materials for new clients

• Tracking and reporting hours for billing weekly

 

Requirements:

• Outstanding communication skills

• Attitude of curiosity and kindness

• Interest and willingness to work with team members to improve company systems and strategy

• Grounded sense of organization

• Creative thinking skills

• Ability to use Mail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets

• Familiarity with Muck Rack a plus

Helpful but not required:

• Located in LA or NYC

• Experience in the field of Communications, Marketing or Promotions is a plus but not required

• BA degree or higher

• Any degree or training specifically in PR, Communications, Journalism or some adjacent field is a plus but not required

• Interest in attending NYC or LA shows and events

Compensation starts at $20.00 per hour / Approximately 20 hours per week
