Funny, raw, and painfully relatable - a coming-of-age story about Dani, a young and reckless stand-up comedian with endometriosis is fired from her job, and forced to navigate life in an unforgiving New York City. Dani begins to have doubts about her relationship, career, and future…She doesn't know what's ahead and she definitely doesn't have control, but one thing she does have is time.

We’ve Got Time pairs unique and messy characters with simple staging, strong storytelling, and deep belly-laughs, speaking directly to a generation grappling with uncertainty, ambition, and the inevitable passage of time, because we never stop exploring the most unkempt and misunderstood parts of ourselves. 

 

Dani, a young and reckless stand-up comedian with endometriosis has everything and nothing going for her all at once. When Dani is fired from her job, she is forced to attempt to navigate post-graduate life against an unforgiving New York City backdrop. Dani begins to have doubts about her relationship, career, and future…She doesn't know what's ahead and she definitely doesn't have control, but one thing she does have is time.

 

We’ve Got Time is funny, raw, and painfully relatable - a coming-of-age story about racing against our most limited resource: time. It explores what we owe each other (and ourselves) while crash-landing into adulthood with equal parts chaos and tenderness.

 

We’ve Got Time writer and actor Emma Louise Lerner has been acting and imagining for as long as she can remember, and We’ve Got Time has in-turn developed over time. Emma says: 

“I wrote the first scene of this play in my senior year of college, filled with anxiety for the adult life I was about to embark on. I think as young people, we often take for granted the thrill of not knowing what’s next. In many ways, I wish I knew what the next chapter of my life was going to look like: milestones I’ll hit, fears I’ll conquer, grief I’ll feel…” 

 

But we can’t see the future. And as frustrating as that is, it can also be liberating. There are factors in life that can’t be controlled; the body we’ve been given, the family we’re born into, the talents we’re gifted, or the times we’re living through. But we can control who we choose to share it all with.

 

Being young right now is…complicated, but We’ve Got Time offers Gen Z and anyone else feeling totally lost a little bit of levity with a lens into the reality of the times we’re living in, full of economic, cultural and overall crisis. With characters that reflect the messiest parts of us all, the play gives room for a little bit of catharsis, laughter, and forgiveness in this totally chaotic life stage, whether you’re in it now or looking to forgive a past version of yourself.

ABOUT EMMA LERNER:

Emma Louise is a Brooklyn based writer and actor, originally hailing from the Pacific Northwest. She has a B.F.A Acting from Pace University, recently accredited in the “top 25 drama schools in the world” in The Hollywood Reporter. Some of Emma’s recent acting credits include the world premiere productions of Firehawks by Emily Bohanon, and Pumpernickel by Keelay Gipson at the Schaeberle Studio Theatre. We’ve Got Time is Emma's first produced original play, premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival August 2026.  Emma’s goal as a creative is to tell stories that are real interpretations of the world we see around us, embracing both the hilarity and devastation of life,she would describe her voice as a hodgepodge of Chekhovian reality, Seinfeldian humor, and Hannah Montana girlishness.

BEN PAULK - Jarred

(Assist. Playwright/Actor) Benjamin Paulk is a Brooklyn based Actor/Writer/Singer originally hailing from Williamsburg, VA. He is an Executive Producer/Cast Member/Writer with the Second City NY affiliated Here Comes A Silly One Sketch Team, a co-founder/cast member/writer with Easter Cactus Sketch, and has a BFA in Acting from Pace University.  He was recently seen on stage in Something Rotten! at the Quisisana Resort, The Shomer Play for the NYTF, and in various sketches with his teams online.

SOPHIE ISBELL

(Actor) Sophie Isbell is a Brooklyn based voiceover, theatre, film, and TV actor. She’s a graduate of Pace University’s BFA program. Previous theater credits include Macbeth (The American Theatre of Actors), Keep it Short (The Actors Theatre Workshop), Late Late Night (Hudson Guild Theatre), Baltimore Docket (Baltimore Museum of Art). Film/TV: Murderbird, Evil Lives Here, In Too Deep, The Demon of Parce Manor. Currently seeking representation.

CASSIE MARTIN

(Actor) Cassie Martin is a New York based actor originally from Austin, Texas. She is beyond psyched to be involved with such a stellar team in We’ve Got Time. Recent credits include Jane Eyre (Helen Burns/Bessie) at Austin Shakespeare, Jane in the short film, “Selin”, and Firehawks (Hazel Armstrong) at Pace University.

ISABEL DIRKS - Director

(Director) Isabel is a New York City based director, devisor, and dramaturg. She graduated from Pace University in 2024 with dual degrees in Directing and Peace and Justice Studies. Recent credits include The Society of Historic Sonic Happenings at La Jolla Playhouse’s Without Walls Festival (Assistant Director), Hope Springs Internal at the Chain Theatre (Assistant Director), and most recently a developmental reading of an exciting new interactive piece titled Collective Stage (Co-Creator & Director). In addition to her freelance directing, Isabel serves as a remote script reader for La Jolla Playhouse under Gabriel Greene.
