Beautiful/Anonymous with Chris Gethard
1 phone call. 1 hour. No names. No holds barred. That’s the premise behind Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People, hosted by comedian Chris Gethard (the Chris Gethard Show, Broad City, This American Life, and one of Time Out’s “10 best comedians of 2015”). Every week, Chris opens the phone line to one anonymous caller, and he can’t hang up first, no matter what. From shocking confessions and family secrets to philosophical discussions and shameless self-promotion, anything can and will happen!
Beautiful/Anonymous was a simple idea that Chris Gethard came up with in 2015. After convincing Earwolf that something so basic might just work, the first episode was released in 2016. It was featured on This American Life and exploded in popularity. One phone call at a time, Chris lets anyone in the world get their story on record. The anonymous nature of the phone calls gives people the freedom to say anything - from their dumbest thoughts, to their most humiliating experiences, to their darkest life experiences. The show is a living chronicle of what life is like on the exact day that particular episode is being recorded.
Chris Gethard is a comedian, actor, and author based out of New Jersey. He’s the host of the Beautiful/Anonymous podcast, the former host of the underground cult classic The Chris Gethard Show, and the writer and star of the HBO special Career Suicide.
