“Inspiration, love and empathy are needed to understand and appreciate the human experience.”- Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins

NYC: April 11, 2022 -- OWN Podcasts is excited to launch Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins’ podcast series, Trials to Triumphs, with the first episode going live May 2nd, and new weekly episodes to follow. Known to friends and fans as ABFJ, Ashley will be in conversation with friends, colleagues and people she admires about the moments when their trials have lead to triumph, exploring the stories of interesting and inspirational personalities that we all know and love in the hopes that we realize that we have much more common ground and shared experiences than we realize, and that none of us are alone.

Said Featherson-Jenkins, “At times life for me has been made sweeter and I’ve found the strength to go on through the stories and major life changing moments that have been shared with me by people I love and admire. I have always felt that empathy & education are two of life’s best teachers.”

While thinking about the ever expansive podcast space and underrepresented stories, pondering an untapped space, she realized this was the perfect opportunity to set a table for audiences to come and be filled with inspiration. A true coming together of women to share gems, advice and wisdom for people to carry with them for the rest of their lives, and to create a safe space for guests and listeners to feel seen, motivated and be encouraged to pursue the lives we all imagine for ourselves.

With the stories of Ashley’s guests as the star of Trials To Triumphs, this series will bring us to laugh, cry, ponder, and discover gems about ourselves and the guests to hopefully allow listeners to have a greater understanding of who they are and to clarify their own unique journey. This is the podcast everyone needs, deserves and craves. Especially now.

About Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins:

Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins is an actress, singer, and producer who starred in the critically acclaimed Netflix Original Series, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE for four seasons. A force of talent on screen, Ashley brings that same level of passion and energy to her off-screen messages of empowerment, hard work, and self-discovery and acceptance. Though she notes that positivity does not come easily, especially as a Black actress, her positivity is infectious and is felt in every interaction with her. She attributes her confident outlook on life due to divine alignment with her purpose: Changing the world through her artistry and serving as a resource for women of color.

Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins is currently recurring on NBC’s comedy series GRAND CREW and she was last seen opposite Lena Waithe and Vanessa Williams in the film BAD HAIR which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. However, it is her starring role as ‘Joelle Brooks’ in the critically acclaimed Netflix Original Series, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE that she is perhaps best known. After the DWP’s 2017 debut, Variety, described Featherson-Jenkins’ ‘Joelle’ as “pitch-perfect,” and TV Guide said the actress is “the comic force of the show.” In 2013, alongside Emmy-winner Lena Waithe, Featherson-Jenkins co-created the groundbreaking web series, HELLO CUPID. Vulture selected CUPID as one of the best web series of 2014 and The Boston Globe went further, declaring the series, and Ashley, deserving of Emmys. Featherson-Jenkins again stood out in her starring role in the MACRO produced series, LEIMERT PARK, which took her to Sundance. On the big screen, Featherson-Jenkins also starred in Amber Tamblyn’s directorial debut, PAINT IT BLACK; and on the small screen in the 2016 ABC pilot, DREW and she guest starred in Fox’s GLEE. Featherson-Jenkins received her BFA in musical theater from Howard University and she currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband Darroll and dog, Diva. #2022

Ashley is represented by ICM, Fox Rothschild, and Principal Entertainment LA.
