Blonde Medicine and Jim Tews are pleased to announce the simultaneous release of Jim’s third full-length comedy album: Without Pictures, and first special With Pictures, available everywhere on Friday, June 6.
“I’m just trying to be a spokesperson for doing your own thing.” says Jim.
With two albums already under his belt, Jim wanted to explore beyond the ‘tight five’ format. A temporary disenchantment with live performance in the wake of the pandemic meant Jim embraced his writer and visual artist sides, and created a full-length body of work for this album and special that is highly visual (an inspiration for the titles of the dual releases). “I’m trying to find new ways to hold people’s attention,” he explains. Eventually the need for real life laughs won out and Jim found himself back on the performance circuit, honing the material for Without Pictures and With Pictures.
Tews’ releases are a snapshot of where his life is. Without Pictures and With Pictures contain jokes and stories about getting married, entering that next phase without losing sight of the person you are that got you there. Jim is a master at simultaneously making fun of it all while defending the choices made.
Jim says “This special and album are really just what I wanted to do, with no further expectations”. Spokesman-for-doing-your-own-thing status earned, and while Jim gets the title, we get TWO rewards - Without Pictures and With Pictures!
