The Collapse
Comedy Special Out July 17 on VEEPS
Comedy Album out August 15 on Blonde Medicine
“Eddie Pepitone is the Pixies of modern comedy. Working class but aching for utopia, quiet and then loud and then quiet again, willing to take the twistiest route to the most uncomfortable, hilarious truth. His audiences don’t just laugh — they erupt in cackling disbelief that Eddie’s saying the things he’s saying.” - Patton Oswalt, EP of The Collapse
“Eddie’s been shouting the truth in parking lots and bakeries for years. Now the world’s on fire, and suddenly he sounds less like a madman and more like the guy who saw it all coming.” - Steven Feinartz, Director
“furious comedic majesty” -The Comedy Bureau
“An overlooked master of the form, [Pepitone has] perfected a persona of the silly grump that makes anything funny.” - The New York Times: Best Comedy Special of 2020
Los Angeles, CA – Comedian Eddie Pepitone, sometimes referred to as the Bitter Buddha (which is also the title of a documentary about him), is poised to release The Collapse, his new hour of comedy out July 17, 2025 on streaming platform VEEPS. The special is a true Pepitone rant and romp as he barrels through the heightened emotions and anxieties of modern life in a somehow joyful and jovial energy that only Pepitone can deliver. He pours over several micro topics and some self-deprecating examinations of his behavior, unpacking notions like the “self loathing that attaches to your face like that thing in Alien.” But he has an understanding that allowing himself to be authentically honest and expressive is a way to connect with others. Says Pepitone:
“The special for me is always an accumulation of rage and tension that has to be let out. I always remember that my first job is to be funny, so I always talk about my personal collapse and hypocrisies, while addressing the societal collapse. My penchant for self-loathing, while not a pretty thing to expose in a special, connects with so many people who are struggling with the same issues.”
Eddie Pepitone is a master of the dark art of comedy. Hailed as a modern day cross between Jackie Gleason, Don Rickles and Eckhart Tolle. Eddie is a force of nature on stage, switching between social rage and self-doubt. His shows are an energetic combo of calm and chaos, blue-collar angst and sardonic enlightenment. Few comedians working today channel the power of the rant better than Eddie Pepitone.
His last special For the Masses was released in June 2020 and was named amongst the Best Comedy of 2020 by the New York Times.
In addition to his regular stand-up shows, Pepitone is a stand-out comedic character actor. Beginning in New York City’s improv and sketch scene where he quickly became a regular face, and continuing on to recurring roles on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and appearances on WTF with Marc Maron Podcast. Most recently, Eddie can be seen in Max's Haley Quinn spin-off Kite Man, Hell Yea!, Hulu's Ramy, and Nickelodeon’s Rock Paper Scissors. Eddie has also appeared on numerous comedy TV shows, including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rick and Morty, Reno 911!, 10 Year Old Tom, The Life and Times of Tim, Will & Grace, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Love, The Sarah Silverman Program, Jimmy Kimmel Live, After Midnight, Last Comic Standing, Chappelle’s Show, appearances on Bob’s Burgers, and he’s a regular on Adult Swim’s Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell. Fans also might recognize Pepitone from his role in the hit comedy Old School, where he plays the role of 'Archer', one of the recruiting pledges.
Starting July 17, 2025, The Collapse will be available exclusively to rent on Veeps for $11.99 or free for Veeps All Access subscribers, and will be released as a comedy album on August 15, 2025 via Blonde Medicine wherever comedy albums are streamed or sold.
Praise for Eddie Pepitone’s Stand-Up:
“An overlooked master of the form, he’s perfected a persona of the silly grump that makes anything funny. Smart comedy that aims for the gut, his new special is titled “For the Masses,” but he jokes that is by necessity, in one of several insults of his audience: “I would be doing jokes about Dostoyevsky if it wasn’t for you.”
- ‘For the Masses’ Named Best Comedy Special of 2020, The New York Times
“The furious comedic majesty that is the words, bits, rants, asides, meta commentary, and righteous yelling, is the stand-up of one Eddie Pepitone” -The Comedy Bureau
“One of the most brilliant people ever in comedy… He’s a f-ing genius and it’s worth your time, I promise” - That’s So Retrograde
“He rages against the debauchery of modern America… Pepitone’s horror is superbly bracing.” -The Guardian
“Pepitone has worked to carry the torch of the working class since he started taking the stage.” -Vanyaland
“There's a common trope in movies where a panhandler or religious zealot rants about the end of the world, either via cardboard sign or sidewalk sermon. If that guy were to walk on stage at The Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles, it would be Eddie Pepitone's special.” -VICE on For The Masses
