The Harlem Comedy Festival will officially return for a fourth year, running from September 22nd-29th, 2019. The Harlem Comedy Festival showcases and celebrates people of color in the New York City comedy scene. Events include stand up showcases, sketches, competitions and more, taking over the neighborhood of Harlem for a week of laughs and inclusivity. Submissions are open until August 25th, and the lineup will be announced in early September.

Harlem Comedy Festival founder Neruda Williams: "For the fourth year in a row, The Harlem Comedy festival is expanding our reach and audience and will feature more national headliners and industry on our stages in uptown Manhattan. It's time for the world to know who The Harlem Comedy Festival is and what we're about."

Previous festivals have featured talent like Pat Brown, Kerry Coddett, Ashton Womack, Donnell Rawlings, Julia Shiplett, Elsa Waithe, and many more. Venues included Silvana, Foot Gear, the National Black Theatre, and more. See the 2018 gallery here: harlemcomedyfestival.com/gallery/

While many comedy festivals call New York home, the Harlem Comedy Festival is the only one to take place completely within the neighborhood of Harlem. The founders of the festival aim to address the lack of diversity in television, film and the comedy world at large, and shine a light on comedic talent that might otherwise go overlooked. They also hope to inspire others to develop their own comedic skills and work to achieve their own goals.
