After self-releasing his first album Baby Steps in 2010, Grant Lyon is proud to announce his comedy label debut, Scheduled Fun Time, releasing March 24th on 800 Pound Gorilla Records. Described by San Francisco Weekly as “a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those tired white-guy bellyachers,” Lyon is known for his intellectual but silly brand of comedy. Over the last fifteen years, Lyon has fine-tuned his style of smart comedy by performing at the best comedy clubs and festivals across the country. Recorded at Laughing Skull Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, Scheduled Fun Time is full of thoughtful personal and social commentary on matters such as Lyon's family, his decision not to have his own children, what it means to be a man, and his addiction to fireworks.

Lyon had an unconventional start to his comedy career. Growing up with firm TV restrictions and no exposure to comedy albums, he wasn't aware that stand-up comedy was a career choice until college when his freshman year roommate introduced him to Mitch Hedberg's first album. Lyon was fascinated with Strategic Grill Locations and played it over and over until he memorized it in its entirety. As a collegiate soccer player at UC Santa Cruz, Lyon's first comedy performance was during a road trip using a tour bus microphone in front of his teammates. He told twenty-five minutes of memorized Mitch Hedberg jokes and first felt the rush of performing stand-up. From then on, his coach continually asked him when he was going to start writing his own material. Fortunately, he asked so many times that Lyon finally did, then performed those jokes for the very first time once again on a tour bus in front of his teammates later that season.

Lyon's comedy has come a long way from those early days of bus performances. Since deciding to pursue a career on stage instead of on the field, he has made a steady rise in the industry. He was chosen as a New Face in comedy at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival, won the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, and was a finalist in the Big Sky Festival. He has performed in several other reputable comedy festivals, including The Great American Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival. He is on the second season Corporate on Comedy Central and stars in the Amazon Prime feature film Killer Kate! Lyon's sketch videos have been featured on Funny or Die, MSN, and Huffington Post, amongst other sites.
